Abstract

Pharmacopuncture in the treatment of peripheral polyneuropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus is a novel therapeutic approach that combines acupuncture with pharmacological agents. By injecting pharmacologically active substances at acupoints, pharmacopuncture aims to enhance the effects of acupuncture in managing peripheral neuropathy, a common complication of diabetes. In individuals with type 2 diabetes, peripheral polyneuropathy can lead to symptoms such as numbness, tingling, and pain in the extremities. Pharmacopuncture offers a targeted treatment strategy that may help alleviate neuropathic symptoms by addressing both the underlying nerve damage and associated pain. Research on the efficacy of pharmacopuncture for diabetic peripheral neuropathy is ongoing, with studies exploring its potential benefits in improving nerve function, reducing pain, and enhancing quality of life in diabetic patients. The integration of pharmacopuncture into the management of peripheral polyneuropathy in individuals with type 2 diabetes presents a promising avenue for holistic care, combining traditional acupuncture techniques with pharmacological interventions to address the multifaceted nature of diabetic neuropathy.
