Background
Sleeve gastrectomy is an effective surgical option for obesity, but sustainable weight loss often requires additional lifestyle modifications. Multidisciplinary lifestyle intervention programs may enhance weight loss outcomes post-surgery.
Objective
This study evaluates the impact of a multidisciplinary lifestyle intervention program on weight loss outcomes in patients following sleeve gastrectomy.
Methods
A total of 80 patients who underwent sleeve gastrectomy were enrolled in a 6-month multidisciplinary lifestyle intervention program, which included nutritional counseling, physical activity guidance, and behavioral therapy. Weight loss was measured at baseline and at 6 months post-intervention. Statistical analyses were conducted to assess the effectiveness of the program.
Results
Participants in the multidisciplinary program achieved an average weight loss of 15% of their initial body weight, significantly greater than the 8% observed in a control group receiving standard care (p < 0.05). Additionally, improvements in dietary habits and physical activity levels were reported.
Conclusions
A multidisciplinary lifestyle intervention program significantly enhances weight loss outcomes following sleeve gastrectomy. These findings support the integration of comprehensive lifestyle strategies in postoperative care for maximizing the benefits of bariatric surgery."
